Kristie’s mission is to provide assistance, support and cherished moments to critically ill children. Although Kristie’s programs help families throughout a child’s illness, their focus is on pediatric end-of-life care and support for the family that loves them. Fortunately 85% of children that get diagnosed with a serious illness find treatments that cure them. Kristie's focus is on the 15% of children that never find their cure. Due to budget cuts most Home Care programs have been cut or eliminated leaving already overwhelmed families to take care of their child on their own. These families face a crisis like no other. There is also Kristie's Place. Due to a desperate need, Kristie’s Foundation is raising funds to open Kristie’s Place, the first children’s end-of-life care facility of its kind, nationwide. Kristie’s Place wil be a home away from home for the entire family. It will allow the final days of a dying child to be surrounded by their family while being cared for by Kristie’s medical and support teams.Kristie’s Place will provide families with all the help and support they need so their child can live fully and find comfort in their final days. Our focus will be on life! We believe that even in the darkest moments, each day in a child’s life is one that can be lived to its fullest.
At this event there is also a Butterfly Release. For all the kids that have past away, and all the kids who are still fighting their fight, Kristie's Foundation releases live butterflies during the OC BBQ & Music Festival at 12 noon on Saturday June 9th. Come release a butterfly in honor of Kristie's Kids, or for someone you love! Butterflies can be purchased online or at the event.
A few of the Kristie's Kids are going to team up with the Barbecue Teams and be a captain for the day. They will be working along side the bbq teams and be apart of the special day. They will be professional barbeque's for the day and every child loves to be included in the fun. I will be featuring all of these kids next week on MEAT ME.
Last but not least there is the Mr BBQ Competition. I will be competing with my hot dog suite to be Mr. BBQ for this 2012 event. Wish me luck. I will also be on Good Day on Channel 11 this Thrusday some time between 7:30 and 10 am so stay tuned.
